The department since its inception in 2020 has been functioning to provide Professional Social Work education to graduates as well as post-graduates who have a flair for the profession. The department aspires to become a center of excellence in developing social work professionals for promoting justice and empowerment.

The Department offers a two-year full–time postgraduate and Four-year graduate program in Social Work (MSW&BSW) affiliated with the University of Kerala. The students can choose Community Development and Medical & Psychiatric Social Work or elective courses for the postgraduate. Though recently established, the Department has already proved its merit in Social Work education attracting students from across the states in India and outside India.

The vision of the department focuses on “Transforming Lives, Uplifting Communities” and provides extensive outreach activities that support the forthcoming social work professionals to outshine in their career.
