The Students from Social Work Department of Don Bosco College, Kottiyam attended the Kadal Conclave which was held on 07th January 2026. Kadal Conclave 2026, organised by the Fishermen Community Development Programme (FCDP) and Thiruvananthapuram Mathsyathozhilali Mahila Society (TMS) under the Don Bosco Salesian Province, was held on 07 January 2026 at Summer in Bethlehem, Kollam, with the objective of addressing emerging challenges in the fisheries sector and promoting sustainable coastal development and the welfare of fishing communities. The conclave brought together religious leaders, policymakers, administrators, fisherfolk, academicians, researchers, and students to deliberate on critical issues such as marine conservation, climate change, pollution, livelihood security, inclusive development, and responsible utilisation of marine resources. Key addresses emphasized the struggles and marginalisation of fisherfolk, the need for education, health, social security, constitutional recognition, and environment-friendly development that does not displace coastal communities.
