DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY
The Department of Psychology at Don Bosco College, Kottiyam, Kerala, was established in the year 2022 with the vision of becoming a leader in professional skill development, psychological education, and research. The department offers an undergraduate course in B.Sc Psychology and 4-year Honours degree in Psychology, designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in diverse fields such as education, healthcare, business, law, child development, and more. Our curriculum encompasses the study of the mind, brain, human and animal behavior, and social interactions, preparing students for a wide range of careers in psychology.
We emphasize the development of practical skills through hands-on sessions that begin in the first year and continue throughout the program. These practical sessions expose students to various levels of cognitive and behavioral processes such as attention, memory, learning, problem-solving, and the experience of illusions, enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of these fundamental psychological concepts.
We provide extensive practical exposure through outreach programs, fieldwork, and internships at various psychological institutions. These opportunities allow students to gain firsthand experience with real-world psychology, including exposure to psychological disorders and therapeutic practices. Through these experiences, students develop a deeper understanding of the field and its applications, preparing them for careers in clinical settings, research, and beyond.
