A Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) was conducted by the Department of Commerce – Business Information Systems on August 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Seminar Hall.
The seminar commenced with a prayer song by Ashmi B, a fifth-semester student, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Shahar K, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce. Mr. Anasmon S, Head of the Department, delivered the presidential address, while Dr. Y Joy, Principal, gave the inaugural speech.
Adv. Fathima A, the invited resource person, shared valuable insights on patent filing procedures in India, the significance of copyright in creative industries, and the role of IPR in driving innovation. The seminar also featured real-life case studies and recent developments in IPR.
The session aimed to create awareness among students about protecting intellectual creations in academics, research, and entrepreneurship, covering various types of IPR, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, geographical indications, and industrial designs.
